Liu Zheng is one of the most representative conceptual photographers since 1990s.His representativeness is not only reflected in his works, but also his turning from a news documentary photographer to a conceptual photographer is one of the ways in which Chinese contemporary photography occurred and developed. Liu Zheng tried to find one way can that make his works more free, and to get rid of photography’s form limitation to express his idea and the feeling that he was born in China. He once claimed that what I loved is not the photography, not the camera, but the freedom in it. The dramatic and the historic are the two major elements that never absent in his photography works.
