Love Stories

Dimensions Variable

Liu Chuang’s Love Stories incorporates the visual and audible elements into an installation. The artist collected thousands of pocketbooks of love stories published at the end of the last century from Dongguan, Guangzhou. He discovered a certain literary genre written by the readers of the pocketbooks, whether as private love letters or scribbles. Such seemingly “low” literature has become its own linguistic appeal in the course of passing from one hand to the other. While these pocket novels and parasitic literary genres are being visualized, noise, the sound of the trumpet, mixed voices are played into the exhibition, by which to awake the viewer’s audible sense to enter the psychological channel to the artwork.
