For more than two centuries, as a sacred building and inner space, museum collects the development of art and culture of human beings. Nowadays, museum has even become a dominant character of the cultural landscape of the society. Apart from the establishment and control of the value standard, museum has an absolute power of discourse and all things that are brought by its authority, such as collection, exhibition, transmission and education, are fully playing their roles. As provided with all sorts of meanings by different fields, museum also puts on many masks.

In the work “Xiangqian Art Museum”, artist Hu Xiangqian creates “Xiangqian Art Museum” whose name is his own name and whose building is his own body. The space of his memory collects many works that are approved by himself. Through the means of linguistic narration, what he demonstrates, transmits and challenges is the value system and power of discourse of museum in current cultural landscape.
