Life Takes Place | Documentary Episode 2 🎬

The Third Act of Life: What Can We Leave Beyond the Exhibition?
Since June 2026, 12 artists and collectives from around the world have undertaken residencies at Taikang Community senior living residences across China and at Taikang’s headquarters in Beijing. Drawing on their individual perspectives and experiences, they offer fresh ways of seeing these buildings and the everyday lives taking place within them.
Extending the conversation beyond the exhibition, a forthcoming publication exploring space and care will bring together research by scholars from across disciplines. Taking Taikang Community’s senior living practices as a starting point, it examines the history of architecture for ageing, age-friendly design, domestic space, care work and dignity in later life through case studies grounded in historical and social perspectives.
As Taikang celebrates its 30th anniversary, Taikang Art Museum hopes that these artistic and scholarly explorations will open up new ways of understanding Taikang’s long-standing architectural practices within a broader humanistic context.
We invite you to book your visit through the ‘Taikang Art Museum’ WeChat Mini Program.
