In recent years, Chinese animation has experienced an unprecedented boom: original works are thriving both in reputation and box office performance, and “making animation” has become an ideal career for an increasing number of young people. However, for most audience, the animation industry still seems mysterious—what is the current state of the animation industry? What skills are needed to enter the field? How will animation creators evolve in the age of AI?
During the exhibition “Animating China” by Taikang Art Museum, the museum, in collaboration with the Research Center for Business and Arts, Peking University, has launched a special forum “Next Frame: The Shift in the Animation Industry in the Age of AI.” This forum will address key questions regarding “how animation is created, distributed, monetized, and reshaped” from four dimensions: Traditional creation, platform technology, dissemination ecosystem, and AI communities.
The forum will feature insights from Zhang Bei, Director of Kaku Television’s “Animation 100,” Chen Hetian of Vidu Digital Technology, AI community leader Song Donghuan, and creator Li Xinge. They will collaboratively dissect the “roadmap” from entry barriers to professional growth, from technological paradigms to opportunities in the industry chain.
This forum promises to offer an enlightening dialogue that connects artistic interests with future directions, enabling participants to understand the “creation and development of animation” and the “shift of the animation industry in the age of AI,” providing a future-oriented practical reference for animation enthusiasts and professionals alike.
