Contemporary Art Activator Workshop: Inspiration · Generation

The first workshop of the “Contemporary Art Activator Workshop” series, the “Inspiration · Generation” Inspiration Power Station, is officially launched. Using “Contemporary Art Activator” as the creative medium, artist She Luyun invites the public to move beyond looking and into making. Here, artworks are no longer distant objects to be admired from afar, but rather inspirational devices that can be touched, disassembled, and reactivated.

Participants will, under the guidance of the artist, select their own creative activator, explore the conceptual logic behind it, and develop individual creative experiments using a range of materials provided by the workshop or brought by the participants themselves. The workshop encourages experimentation, trial and error, and intuitive making, with no prescribed formula or right way to create, aiming to let each participant find their own rhythm of expression through hands-on practice. The workshop will conclude with a presentation and exchange of ideas, where different perspectives spark new possibilities and deepen our collective understanding of contemporary art.

You will have the chance to take home the very “Contemporary Art Activator” you designed yourself. Display it as a hanging piece or an object on a shelf, and bring it from the museum into your everyday life. Every glance and every touch can spark a fresh burst of inspiration.

Activity Rundown

1｜Exhibition Visit (10 minutes)

Artist She Luyun will lead participants into the exhibition venue, where they can choose a “Contemporary Art Activator” to explore. This work will serve as a starting point and point of reference for the creative process that follows, helping everyone develop an initial understanding of contemporary art through direct engagement with the works.

2｜Artwork Sharing (20 minutes)

The artist will elaborate on the creative concept of the “Contemporary Art Activator” and demonstrate how it works, sharing the conceptual logic and technical details behind it. Through this in-depth interpretation, participants will gain a clearer understanding of how the “activator” is designed to function, providing a conceptual foundation for their own creation.

3｜Creative Experiment (60 minutes)

Participants can use various materials provided by the workshop or bring their preferred creative media. With the artist’s guidance and through ongoing exchange and discussion, they are encouraged to freely explore and develop their own creative experiments.

4｜Creation Sharing (30 minutes)

Participants will be invited to present their work and share the sources of inspiration and emotional responses that emerged during the creation process. Through dialogue and exchange, different perspectives will come together, sparking new ideas and fresh ways of seeing.
