Between 1924 and 1927, tens of thousands of young intellectuals threw themselves into the tide of the National Revolution. Constant movement, displacement, grief, resistance, defeat, and the resolve to begin again became shared experiences that shaped an entire generation.
Fu Luofei, then a student at the Shanghai College of Fine Arts, was among them.
Standing at the historical turning point marked by the failure of the Great Revolution in 1927, and at a moment when revolutionary art turned toward the masses and revolutionary youth embraced collective action, Fu Luofei embarked on a path that sought social transformation and personal purpose through artistic practice.
